Fabric Inspiration
When it comes to planning a baby shower - I always like a little inspiration.
Lisa, Editor of South Sound magazine and 425 magazine are throwing a baby shower for Heather, the Creative Director. Heather sent us this fabric swatch today for inspiration - this is the fabric that she has chosen to use in the baby girls room. I love it and it gives Lisa and I so many ideas, colors and images to work with. We are going to begin the invitation design next week - I want to incorporate the bird image that you see in the fabric. We are planning a brunch at the end of April for Heather.

Oscar Countdown
With the 81st Annual Oscars only days away a friend and I have decided to host an impromptu Oscar Party dinner while watching all the red carpet events (one of my favorite parts - I love all the fashions) and the awards live.
More to come to include recipes and ideas for you to throw your own Oscar Party - big or small!

Weekend Trip
For Valentine's Day I surprised my boyfriend with a trip to Kurai Cottage located in a rural part of central Whidbey Island.
Kurai Cottage is a custom designed Japanese cottage. It is located on over 5 acres of open feild and forrest offering panoramnic ocean views. It is surrounded by a bamboo grove, oriental garden and pond. The cottage has been built to emulate the traditional "Minka" or country home found in rural Japan from feudal times up to the 19th century, but rarely found today. It was an amazing setting for a fun weekend. We took a short trip into Coupeville for dinner on Valentine's Day to the Captain Whidbey Inn.
Captain Whidbey Inn is located in Ebey’s Landing National Historic Reserve in Coupeville and is surrounded by forest and hugs the shore of Whidbey Island’s Penn Cove. They are more of an Inn than a restaurant but did a really nice job with dinner. We spent Sunday wandering the central part of the island. The day began with a visit to Fort Casey State Park. Fort Casey State Park is a 467-acre marine camping park with a lighthouse and sweeping views of Admiralty Inlet and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. After our visit to the park we visited a few antique shops and had a fabulous lunch at Christopher's on Whidbey. I would highly recommend this spot! A very memorable weekend.

Vintage Valentine
When I was visiting my friend in Charlotte last weekend we took a trip to a vintage flea market. It was incredible. It was the first time I had ever been to one of these and I cannot wait to go to the next one!
The picture above is one of the vintage Valentine's Day cards that my friend Jessica and I bought. She scanned this one to share with me. It was so fun to see old Valentine's from the 1920's and 1940's. The most interesting thing that we noticed was that they did not write on the inside on their Valentine's back then, all the messages we saw were on the backs of the cards.
Happy Valentine's week to everyone!

Vintage Inspiration
These vintage wallpaper letters that I found at The Land of Nod were the inspiration for the theme of Chloe's puppy shower taking place at the end of this month. The letters that spell her name have oranges and browns in them. Ok, so maybe it's not like seeing your name in lights, but it's almost as fun. Each letter is constructed of wallpaper print patterns.
